Американський ринок пристроїв для видалення каменів з сечового міхура (U.S. Urinary Stone Management Devices Market)

Kidney stones are one of the most common disorders that affect the urinary tract, with approximately 5% to 7% of women and 10% to 12% of men in the United States (U.S.) being diagnosed with a kidney stone every year. According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, an estimated 2.0 million to 2.7 million cases of urolithiasis are diagnosed annually in the U.S., with this number expected to steadily increase along with an aging population prone to diseases and a multitude of other factors that promote stone formation.

In the past, stone removal was painful and required a recovery period of 4 to 6 weeks; however, a variety of less invasive treatment options have been designed to significantly improve stone removal and recovery time. Several procedures are available depending on the location and size of the stone, and the success of other more conservative methods. These include: minimally invasive extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy; ureteroscopy with or without intracorporeal lithotripsy; percutaneous nephrolithotomy with or without intracorporeal lithotripsy; and, open surgery.

The U.S. market for urinary stone management devices (defined in this report as including lithotripsy systems and stone access, dilation, and retrieval devices) is expected to continue stable, moderate growth over the next 5 years due to positive demographic trends and corresponding increases in urinary stone cases, continued adoption of more cost-effective minimally invasive stone removal techniques and next-generation lithotripsy and medical device technologies. Valued at more than $423.4 million in 2011, the market is expected to increase at a compound annual rate of 3.4%, with sales reaching more than $500 million in 2016, reflecting an increase of approximately $77.0 million.

This dynamic report from Medtech Insight includes analyses of products, markets, competitors, and emerging drugs, technology and opportunities. Covered topics and products in this report include selected stone management devices: extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) systems; ureteroscopy; intracorporeal lithotripsy systems; percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) systems; urinary stone access, dilation and retrieval devices (including ureteral access sheaths, balloon dilation catheters, reusable ureteroscopes/nephroscopes, and stone retrieval baskets/graspers), and ureteral stents.
